The club welcomes boxers of all levels of ability as long as there is a willingness to work hard, listen, respect the club and apply themselves to the demands of boxing.

Our trainers are dedicated individuals who volunteer their services and pride themselves on the development of all those who come through the club doors to train at the Times.

If you want to progress to competitive boxing and you're willing to commit to a training schedule managed by our coaches, you'll be more than ready when your time comes to wear the club's colours.

We believe that there's no losing in our sport: ‘you never lose, you only win or learn’. Every experience is a building block towards being the very best that you can be.
Times ABC is a member of the Islington Voluntary Action Council (IVAC) and the Amateur Boxing Alliance (England) CIC. We also have an ongoing relationship with the ‘Awards for All’ Lottery initiative and The Cripplegate Foundation.
The club continues to receive amazing support from Islington Borough Council, our local Caledonian Ward councillors as well as Emily Thornberry, MP for Islington South.

WELCOME TO THE TIMES AMATEUR BOXING CLUB
​
The Times Amateur Boxing Club was founded in 1927 and has been based locally in the Kings Cross/Angel area since 1975 before moving to its current home in 1985 to the York Way Community Centre, in Tiber Gardens, just off Copenhagen St.
​
The club has earned a strong reputation for helping young people in the area achieve personal and sporting success. Its achievements stretch back to 1934 when the club was sponsored by the Times newspaper and one of its employees, Pat H. Floyd, won Heavyweight gold at the Commonwealth Games
Success in more recent years: Julius Amoah, under 20's Senior ABA National Novice Champion who won Gold at the Haringey Box Cup and went on to represent London; Joe Seabrook, Senior ABA National Novice Champion who also represented London.
Marlon Mellish, London Senior ABA Open Champion who went on to reach the quarter finals of the Senior ABA Championship and won gold in the Haringey Box Cup.
George Kean, under 10's Junior ABA National Novice Champion and under 20's Senior ABA National Novice Champion won the London Senior ABA Open Championship and reached the quarter finals in the ABA Open Championship. Both Marlon and George went on to develop as future prospects boxing for London and going on to represent England against Scotland. George had 58 amateur fights and Marlon was ranked number five in the country.
Zak Chelli who won the Junior ABA National Championship, the Three Nations Youth championship and has since turned pro, boxing at Super-Middleweight.

These sessions introduce youngsters to boxing techniques and fitness drills in a fun and safe environment.
Adults Boxing
Senior classes are held on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from
18:00-19:30

Get Your Heart Working
Work with our trainers who will coach you as you begin a journey to get faster, stronger and healthier.
Boxing is suitable for everyone at any kind of fitness level and an excellent rehabilitation program following injury, taking advantage of the body’s natural movements.

Before you start training you willl need to complete a Registration Form so that our coaches are aware of any medical conditions.
Forms are available at reception or ask one of the coaches. Complete the form and bring it with you on your first session. If you're under 17 a parent or guardian needs to sign the form.
​
All you need to bring to your first session is some comfortable training clothes, your own boxing gloves, wraps and a gum shield. You'll be shown some basic skills to get you started.
